Annual Fund

FAQs

Why doesn't the school pay for these items from the fees?
A: The tuition fees principally cover the cost of teachers' salaries, curriculum resources and support services. As with all schools, while many needs are covered by the fees, there are desirable items  which cannot be bought immediately or need additional financial support. The Annual Fund has been established to provide a channel for members of the community to make donations that will assist in providing these extras.

Can I make a donation to a specific item?
A: Individuals may make a specific donation of a particular item. Other donations will be accumulated and used towards providing items on the wish list. This prevents us having relatively small amounts of money distributed across several wishes and being unable to buy any of them.

Is there a maximum and minimum suggested amount for donation?
A: There is no limit on the level of donations, however, it is preferred that donations of more than 100,000 Baht be used for major projects and not as part of the Bangkok Patana School Annual Fund. Bangkok Patana welcomes all donations, no matter what the size.

Where will my donation be acknowledged?
A: There will be regular updates in the Patana Newsletter acknowledging donations towards the Fund. Anonymous gifts will also be gratefully received.

Who decides what items are needed?
A: Senior academic staff will provide a list to the new Annual Fund committee for approval and this list will be published regularly in the school Newsletter. We will also publish when the purchase of an item has been made.

Who sits on the Fund Committee?
A: The committee will be made up of the following members:
- The Head of School
- The Business Director
- Student Welfare representatives
- Parent representatives
- PTG Chair
- Chair of School Marketing and Development Sub-Committee

How will the Fund operate?
A: This fund is completely voluntary and if you would like to make a gift then simply complete the Annual Fund reply card and present at the school cashiers' office. You will of course be provided with a receipt for monies received.

How will we know when items are purchased?
A: We will regularly advise you through the Patana News of items being purchased and a complete list will be maintained on the website.

Will a donation to the Annual Fund be tax deductible?
A: It is possible for donations to be tax deductible subject to meeting the criteria as follows.

  • An individual may claim a tax deduction to educational institutions (schools) equivalent to the actual amount, provided the total amount claimed for deduction in any year does not exceed 10% of the Personal Income Tax Computation.

  • A company may claim a tax deduction to educational institutions (schools) equivalent to the actual amount, provided the total amount claimed for deduction in any year does not exceed 2% of Corporate Income Tax Exemption of net profit.
