Nursery Hit the Pool

Each week the Nursery students go on their very own little adventure! Holding their friend's hand, they enjoy walking past the turtles where the children call out that they'll be back soon, just in case the turtles are worried about them! The children stop at the crossing and practice some important road safety procedures. They wait for the guard to say ‘Go!’ before walking carefully across the road. Once changed into their swimming gear, the children walk up to the big, green gate and using a full question ask ‘Can you open the gate please?’ before the swimming teachers let them inside.

The students take off their shoes, shower and then sit on the side of the pool ready to learn. They practice kicking their legs and splashing their hands while singing along with the coaches. The children learn to enter and exit the pool safely and can then choose from a range of water toys to do. This helps the children feel more confident with the water as they splash and pour the water on themselves, their friends and their teachers! So many of the Nursery children are already confident without the use of armbands and all of the children enjoy swimming with their friends. It is amazing how confident the children are in the water and most importantly, how engaged and motivated they are. Thank you to the fantastic swimming coaches, staff and families for helping them make so much progress!
