Sharing Stories from Other Cultures

Understanding culture is an inseparable component of learning a language and it is, at the same time, one of the most enjoyable aspects of acquiring a new language and keeping yourself motivated. That is why the Primary World Language teachers were excited to share cultural customs and beliefs through the retelling of some stories to students in Year 5 as an introduction to their new unit of learning “Stories from Other Cultures”.

During the presentation, two legends were shared, one about the Chinese Moon Festival and the other about the Mexican Holiday of “Día de Muertos”. It was evident students thoroughly enjoyed hearing the stories as they finished their day talking about them!
